Music video analysis - by Alex Nugent

During today's lesson we looked at a number of music videos of varying genres , again with the intention of seeing the main components of a successful music video . The video below is Plan B's - No good :

Music video conventions:

• Performance - Plan B is singing/performing in the video
  
• Creative - The video isn't really related to the video , there's no set narrative or story
• Although the video is not related and has no set narrative , the distorted movement of the characters in the background match that beat and pace of the music.
  
• Unconventional characters within the video represent the unconventionality of the song as it isn't a video you would expect to see for a rap song.
• Shot variety allows empahsise on the change of setting and the movement of each individual charcter and 'Plan B' himself.
  
• Changes of setting
• Compelling , the unconvential nature of the video i.e. strange narrative and characters make the viewer want to carry on watching.
